Milwaukee County Zoo had to euthanize polar bear

MILWAUKEE-The zoo had to euthanize its popular polar bear \"Wilhelm\" Tuesday.

Zoo officials told CBS 58 News that \"Willie\" wasn't eating, could not stand and was uncomfortable and in pain.

Veterinarians did an exam and found fluid in his abdomen.

Age is a likely factor, although an exact cause of  his illness may not be confirmed for weeks.

\"Willie\" was in Milwaukee County since 2011 from a zoo in North Carolina.

He wound up stayed here with a female polar bear name \"Snow Lilly.\"

He lived to be 28 years old.

According to the curator, that's a long life for a polar bear which has a normal life expectancy of about 21 years.
