MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is asking witnesses to come forward who saw or heard anything from Friday's interstate shooting.

According to Sheriff Richard Schmidt, the suspect's car was speeding along the interstate during rush house when two 20-year-old's in the victim's car started yelling and making hand gestures.

People inside the suspect's car slowed down, pulled out a gun and fired at least six shots. The victims suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and chest areas. The two pulled over and someone drove them to the hospital. Their injuries are non-life threatening.

Deputies closed northbound lanes for more than two hours while they searched for evidence.

"If you’re confronted on the highway or someone does something that in our vernacular ticks you off, let it go," said Schmidt. "If the passenger potentially would have not done anything just let it go none of this would have taken place."

There will be saturated patrols near the Marquette interchange until further notice.

If you have any information, contact the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office at (414) 278-4705.
