Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy injured assisting at crash scene on I-43

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A deputy with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office was injured assisting at the scene of a crash on Monday, April 24.

It happened just after 2 a.m. on northbound I-43 near MLK.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies positioned their squads to close the freeway and block traffic following a rollover crash.

Officials say a driver struck one of the squads, and a short time later, another vehicle struck a second squad at the same location. The second incident pushed the squad into a deputy who was standing nearby, causing him minor injuries.

That deputy was taken to an area hospital and examined.

Both drivers are being investigated for possible OWI.
