MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A woman was killed early Thursday, Nov. 28 in a single-SUV crash on the east-to-north ramp of the Stadium Interchange, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

She was identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office Friday as Maria Chavez-Renteria.

Emergency management dispatchers notified sheriff’s deputies of the crash at around 1:41 a.m. A deputy arriving on scene found a 34-year-old woman who appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle. She was unresponsive but had a faint pulse.

The deputy began CPR until Milwaukee Fire Department personnel arrived and took over lifesaving efforts. Officials were unable to restore her pulse, and she was pronounced dead at 1:57 a.m.

The woman, who was the sole occupant of the SUV, was reportedly driving on the ramp when the vehicle struck yellow barrels, flipped onto its roof and came to rest on its side.

MCSO says that preliminary investigations suggest the crash occurred after an attempted last-second exit, and they also believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
