Milwaukee County marks Denim Day to support survivors of sexual violence

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County is observing Denim Day on Wednesday, April 30, in a show of support for survivors of sexual violence and to raise awareness about common misconceptions surrounding assault.

The County Board first recognized Denim Day in 2024 through a unanimously adopted resolution authored by Supervisor Sky Z. Capriolo.

"Sexual violence is a pervasive issue that affects every community,” Capriolo said in a public statement. "By recognizing Denim Day, we are honoring survivors and taking an important step to confront harmful myths and advocate for change."

Capriolo also encouraged residents to participate, adding, "There is never an excuse, nor is there ever an invitation to rape. Let’s stand united in Milwaukee County to raise awareness and support all of those affected by this type of violence."
