Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Bittle
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley talked about his 2025 budget plan Tuesday afternoon.
His recommended budget includes a tax levy increase of 2.8%, adding up to $8.2 million.
Crowley says despite that levy increase, the county property tax rate will be reduced by 3%.
The county had a projected budget gap of nearly $13 million, but with some changes, the county can close the gap without any significant cuts.
"This is really putting us on that path to sustainability, making sure we can continue to deliver with our programs and our services while making sure to keep all property tax down for all homeowners," Crowley said.
The county budget includes an 11% increase in spending toward public safety services, including the sheriff's office, courts, and community reintegration center.
Crowley's recommended plan also puts $6 million toward planning a new building for courts and public safety.
