MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The coronavirus pandemic has impacted nearly all parts of local government, and that includes budgets.
On Thursday, Oct. 1, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley presented the 2021 recommended budget to the county board.
He framed the entire budget around his strategic plan for racial equity.
"The 2021 recommended budget sets Milwaukee County on a course for change, by putting into action our shared vision to achieve racial equity," Crowley said. "It is just the beginning of the work we need to improve with the scarce resources we have."
Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, Crowley mostly avoided big budget cuts.
A big part of that is due to CARES Act funding the county received.
