Milwaukee climbs to 32 in Orkin's list of mosquito trouble cities
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Do you feel the itch? It might be a bit early, but get ready, Milwaukee.
A new report has stirred up some buzz, showing that Milwaukee has been ranked the 32nd worst city in the United States for mosquitoes.
This ranking, released by pest control company Orkin, was determined based on the number of service calls the company received from major metropolitan areas.
Milwaukee has seen an increase in mosquito-related issues, jumping six places from its ranking last year. However, the city pales in comparison to Los Angeles, which holds the dubious distinction of being the "buggiest" city for a fourth consecutive year, according to Orkin's rankings.
Orkin also provided some tips about how to repel mosquitoes and prevent those pesky mosquito bites.
They recommend wearing loose, long clothing and applying an EPA-registered repellent. Also, eliminate standing water in all surroundings and clean gutters regularly to deter breeding and harborage.
