MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- City leaders have a message for people who haven't completed the 2020 census yet -- time is running out.
At the Journey House Community Center Tuesday, Sept. 1, Congresswoman Gwen Moore joined Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and others to encourage people to take a few minutes to complete the census survey.
The deadline is Sept. 30, and so far only about 59-percent of people in Milwaukee have responded.
The city is on pace to fall short of the 2010 response rate, which was 68-percent.
"So our request is with all the things going on, take the time, talk to your neighbors, talk to your family, talk to your friends -- just fill out the form, get the form filled out, it's best for all of us if we do that," Mayor Barrett said.
The census count is used to allocate state and federal funding to communities across the country.
If you haven't filled out the census yet, you can do it online at my2020census.gov.
