Lewis faces felony counts related to embezzling campaign and city funds. She's accused of mishandling more than $20,000 on travel and personal expenses.
Since the charges were announces, Lewis was removed from her committee assignments on the Milwaukee Common Council.
She is also running for U.S. Senate.
Lewis returns to court on Nov. 24.
