MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- Local leaders launched the first of two vaccination drives at a Milwaukee church in their latest efforts to get more residents vaccinated on Sunday, June 6.
Aldermen Cavalier Johnson and Ashanti Hamilton teamed up with Milwaukee organizations to host the two drives. They are taking place at the Holy Redeemer Institutional Church of God in Christ.
While life is slowly returning to normal, Alderman Johnson stresses that we need to continue doing our part to protect the community.
"Make sure that you do your part and get the covid-19 vaccine so that our community can have the highest safety for you, your family, and for everyone else," Johnson said.
Officials say 46% of Milwaukee County residents have received at least one dose, and nearly 40% are fully vaccinated.
The second drive will take place on Monday, June 28.
