Milwaukee actor/musician Elvis Thao composes original song to encourage blood donation

The Miracle Comeback Blood Drive took place Monday at the Bay View Library.

Usually donors expect a cookie or some juice.

Instead they were serenaded by Milwaukee kid turned actor/musician Elvis Thao who appeared alongside Clint Eastwood in the movie \"Gran Turino.\"

The song called \"46 Pints\" honors another local young man, Rasheed Ali, who on August 3, 2009 was hit by two cars while on his bicycle.

46 pints of donated blood brought him back to life.

\"Doctors gave me 2 % chance to make it. But here I am, a miracle,\" Ali told CBS 58 News. \"I survived.\"

Thao said he loved collaborating with the Ali family on the song.

\"It was a really smooth collaboration. We cut and recorded the song in Milwaukee, involved the kids.\"
