MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Midwest Gaming Classic, the nation's largest retro gaming event, returns to Milwaukee's Baird Center for its 25th anniversary from April 24 through 26. It is billed as featuring more than 10,000 playable games, 200 vendors and 100 industry guests across 350,000 square feet.
The event started in 2001 as a niche gathering of fans of Atari's little-celebrated Jaguar game console before growing into a celebration of gaming across every format, from retro and modern consoles to arcade machines, pinball, tabletop games and more. All games are included with admission, and children under 9 attend free.
New this year is competitive speed puzzling, along with a community memory project inviting attendees to share photos and stories from the past 25 years. A Magic: The Gathering tournament with a $4,000 card prize is also on the schedule.
