Mental competency of Slenderman stabbing suspect in question

WAUKESHA -- A Waukesha County judge says he has reason to doubt the competency of one of the Slenderman stabbing suspects. The other suspect has already been ruled not competent to stand trial.

Anissa Weier's lawyer says she is not mentally fit to stand trial following a forensic psychologist. Weier and Morgan Geyser are accused of stabbing a 12-year-old Waukesha girl 19 times to impress the fictional character Slenderman.

The judge believes there may be merit to the defense attorney's argument, and ordered an examination by Wisconsin forensics due 30 days from September 15.

This case has been halted until the judge gets a report from Wisconsin forensics. He denied a motion to proceed with Weier's probable cause hearing.

The next hearing has been scheduled for October 22, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. to discuss Weier's competency to stand trial.
