Memorial Tree Saved in Richfield

On Thursday a community came together to help a family healing from a tragic loss.

Todd March was tragically killed 20 years ago.  To honor his memory, a King Crimson Maple Tree and a memorial rock were placed at Heritage Park in Richfield.

Recently a construction project threatened the tree and the crew thought it had to come down.

After talking with his parents, they realized it would be another blow to the still grieving parents and found a way to save the tree.

The village offered to replace the tree in a different location along with the same memorial stone and the family accepted.

The person who planted the tree, Todd's former employer heard about effort  and pitched in to help. he's paying the cost to build the necessary retaining wall.
