MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An autopsy shows 3-year-old Major Harris was likely dead for a week before his body was found.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office believes he was killed at, or around, the same time as his mother.

Harris' body was discovered in an alley last Thursday, Oct. 21 near 35th and Rohr following an Amber Alert.

Investigators ruled his death a homicide, with the medical examiner reporting he was shot in the head.

Major's mother, Mallery Muenzenberger, was found fatally shot on Thursday, Oct. 14.

As police continue to investigate exactly what happened to Harris and his mother, there seems to be a dispute over where he will be buried.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office confirms the body of 3-year-old Major Harris was sent to a Madison-area funeral home.

The Muenzenberger family says Major's body was already on its way to La Crosse when his father, Carlton Harris Jr., stepped in, insisting on burying his son in Madison.

We reached out to Carlton Harris for updates on funeral plans but have not yet heard back.
