"I was trying to make out what they were saying and what they were arguing about," said a witness who wished to stay anonymous. "I was afraid to open up a window too at the same time because I didn't wanna draw attention to myself."

West Allis police say two groups of people were arguing. Neighbors say they saw and heard the situation escalate.

"I heard an argument that woke me up and then I heard something break, then I heard punches and then i just called 911 right away," said another witness.

Cameras didn't capture when the man was stabbed. Surveillance video show first responders working to keep the 33-year-old man alive but he died at the scene.

"I feel bad it's a victim with a similar age as me, you know going about his regular day, talking to family and friends, and he didn't realize that would be his last day," said a neighbor.

"I mean that's just so young, you know? You don't know if he's got a wife, a girlfriend, any children, and his parents," said a witness.

Police say the suspects ran off after the stabbing and have not been caught.

Neighbors say they're still in shock.

"Something like this, I mean it doesn't happen here in West Allis, and we are very shocked, very shocked," said a neighbor.

"It's really quiet, everybody's friendly and nice, I was shocked, I'm shocked," adds another neighbor.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation, but there is no danger to the public.
