UPDATE: Suspect captured after fatal hit-and-run car crash at 76th and Appleton

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police have arrested the suspect in this incident identified as a 19-year old Milwaukee man. The case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Medical Examiner has told CBS 58 they have been called to 76th and Appleton for a car crash Thursday morning.

Milwaukee Police tell CBS 58 the crash was the result of a hit-and-run and police are searching for the driver of the offending vehicle. They say a man was driving a Pontiac Sunfire south on 76th street when he ran a red light and hit the car driving west on Appleton. A 48-year-old woman who was a passenger in that car was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the car that was hit suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The crash was originally reported just before 8:00 a.m.
