MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Milwaukee County Transit System is creating a new scholarship as a tribute to Rosa Parks.
This comes as MCTS is holding its annual on-board tribute to Parks.
High school seniors in Milwaukee County who will attend a trade school, college or university are encouraged to submit a short essay in order to be considered for the $1,000 scholarship.
The essay should be inspired by Parks’ quote, “Each person must live their life as a model for others”. Entries must be submitted by January 8, 2021. Three winters will be announced on Parks’ birthday, February 4, 2021.
MCTS is marking its fifth year in leaving a seat open on every bus from December 1-December 3 to honor Parks’ legacy.
More information on the scholarship can be found on the MCTS website.
