'McGuire' comes back to life in Milwaukee

Former Marquette basketball coach Al McGuire will have his life celebrated through the play entitled McGuire with performances at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater.

The play was written by McGuire's longtime friend and colleague, Emmy award-winner and hall of fame play-by-play announcer Dick Enberg.

"Here is a man that in my 60 years of broadcasting is the most incredible character I've ever met and there is no second place," Enberg said of the late McGuire.

Enberg spent 20 years working with McGuire calling NCAA basketball with NBC and CBS, befriending the legendary coach in the process. This relationship helped inspire the play being performed at The Rep starting Friday, January 20.

The play stars Broadway veteran, Milwaukee native and Marquette alum Anthony Crivello as McGuire.
