McCarthy names Tolzien starter for Vikings game

GREEN BAY - For the second straight week, Mike McCarthy has taken the air out of any quarterback controversy in Green Bay.

Monday afternoon, McCarthy named Scott Tolzien the starter quarterback for this Sunday's game at Lambeau Field against the Vikings. Tolzien threw for 339 yards, but with 3 interceptions, in a loss to the Giants Sunday in East Rutherford, NJ.

McCarthy says he hasn't talked to the team's medical staff about Aaron Rodgers' condition. Rodgers had hinted at a possible comeback against the Vikings, but that game comes less than three weeks after Rodgers' collarbone injury. The original timetable for recovery was reported to be 4-6 weeks.

The Packers are 5-5, one game behind the Lions and Bears in the NFC North.
