MATC to offer summer camps for high school, middle school students

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Area Technical College will host eight summer camps for high school and middle school students.

These will take place at their downtown Milwaukee, Mequon, and Oak Creek campuses in June and July.

Some are free and others will have a fee, but there are scholarships available.

The following camps will be taking place:

Automotive: MATC RevUp Auto Body for Students Ages 15+
Monday-Thursday, June 24-27 and Monday, July 1
9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Oak Creek Campus, free
Participants learn techniques to prep, paint and assemble their own projects in a fully equipped body shop setting. Students will be able to keep parts of their projects created in the shop. Lunch will be served. Email: [email protected] or call (414) 571-4712 for registration materials.

Automotive: MATC RevUp Automotive for Students Ages 15+
Thursday, July 18 and Monday-Thursday, July 22-25
9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Oak Creek Campus, free
Geared toward high school students who have previous in-class auto shop experience or just have a passion for cars. Participants will work on hands-on, interactive in-shop activities with experienced master technicians. Projects will focus on performance modifications and include a trip to a hot rod tuning shop. Automotive: MATC RevUp RC Nitro Camp for Students Entering Grades 7-9
Monday-Friday, July 8-12
8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Mequon Campus, $125 (scholarships available)
Students work on automotive-themed lessons as they relate to 1/10 scale Nitro RC cars. They will learn about the transportation servicing industry with field trips to employers with hands-on activities. Campers also design and paint their own race body while learning how to drive a Nitro RC car. The week culminates with timed racing of the student-prepared cars on a fun track. Must attend all days of the camp. Lunch will be served. A short student-written interest statement is required with the application. Monday-Thursday, July 8-11

Oak Creek Campus, free

Culinary Arts for Girls for Students Entering Grades 9-12
Monday-Thursday, June 10-13
8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Downtown Milwaukee Campus, free
Participants learn the basics of a restaurant kitchen and will experience the career of a chef. Lunch will be served; students eat what they cook or may bring lunch. Call (414) 297-7334 for registration.

Drones Technology and IT for Girls for Students Entering Grades 9-12
Monday-Thursday, June 10-13

Mequon Campus, free

Girls Who Bot, Build and Code for Students Entering Grades 9-12
Monday-Thursday, June 17-20
8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Downtown Milwaukee Campus, free

Manufacturing: Swiss Connection (CNC) for Students Ages 12-16

Downtown Milwaukee Campus, $59 (ask about available scholarships when you call).
