MATC partners with FAST Fund, Pete's Fruit Market to fight student hunger

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Area Technical College is expanding its program that will help students struggling to make ends meet.

MATC says about half their students have food insecurities. On Wednesday they announced a partnership between the Fast Fund, a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to students, and Pete's Fruit Market.

"When a student is hungry, you cannot study, you cannot learn, you cannot develop even as an adult," said 12th District Alderman Jose Perez. "We want to eliminate some of those worries by providing food to the Fast Fund program and through Pete's Fruit Market."

The Fast Fund also recently received an anonymous donation that they're using to expand the help available to students.
