Martaouse Holloway, one of two men accused in the shooting death of 15 year old Melanie Johnson last December, was in court for his sentencing hearing Wednesday morning.
In April, a jury found Holloway guilty on charges of 2nd degree reckless homicide, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Court documents say Holloway and Alex Dixon went to Johnson's home near 35th and Silver Spring on December 12.
Their intent, was to shoot Johnson's brother LJ who was dating Dixon's ex-girlfriend.
Both bullets fired, struck and killed Melanie who was 9 weeks pregnant.
The judge sentenced Holloway to 22 years on 2nd degree reckless homicide charges and 9 years on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, for a total of 31 years in the criminal justice system.
We spoke with Johnson's aunt after the sentencing.
"There’s never no closure because we can’t get my niece back. But I mean, to know he’s off the street, that’s better knowing he can’t ruin anyone else’s life like he did ours and my sisters, said Molliane Johnson, Jonhson's Aunt.
As for Dixon, his trial begins at the end of the month.
