MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Marquette student is safe and unharmed after being held at gunpoint. Marquette Police are now warning students to be aware of their surroundings.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. near 18th and Kilborn.
Marquette Police say the student was walking in the area when two suspects approached him and flashed a gun. The student gave up his belongings.
The suspects fled the scene but were arrested just a half an hour later during a traffic stop.
Police recovered two guns and the victim's belongings.
"Quickly responding to this incident, being on the lookout for this vehicle, and able to take the suspects safely into custody. Get two guns off the street, recover the property. If something like this is going to happen, you couldn't ask for a better outcome," Chief Paul Mascari for the Marquette University Police Department said.
Police also urge students to walk in groups when out at night.
