Marquette Claims First Win of Season in OT

Marquette's Golden Eagles held off IUPUI in overtime to claim their first win of the new season Monday night, 75-71 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Henry Ellenson paced MU (1-1) with 18 points, while Luke Fischer added 17 points and ten rebounds. Ellenson and Duane Wilson accounted for all six Marquette points in overtime, as IUPUI managed just two.

The teams were tied 36-36 at the end of the first half and 69-69 at the end of regulation. Ellenson hit a free throw to give the Golden Eagles a four point lead with two minutes to play, but MU would not score again in the half and IUPUI rallied to tie the game.

Marquette struggled from behind the three point line, hitting just 18 percent of their shots from beyond the arc.

MU's next opponent is Iowa, Thursday night at 8:00.
