March Weather Recap

It was a stormy end to the month, and a soggy one too! Here's the final rainfall amounts from the last two days.

The last day of the month came with storms producing heavy rain and lightning along with hail. But we also ended the month on a mild note with the last five days of the month in the 50s and 60s.

Here's the transition on temps with average monthly snow during the month of March for Milwaukee.

We ended the month just over five degrees above normal, with the average temperature at 40.1°. We made it into the 70s on the 8th of the month reaching 71°. The month also featured four days in the 60s and eight additional days in the 50s.

A few other March temperature statistics for you:

Average Monthly High: 40.1° Above Average By 5.1°
Highest Temp: 71° March 8th
Lowest Temps: 11° March 4th, 2nd

From the scene above, you can see we average seven inches of snow during the month. We ended pretty close to that mark. Here's some other precipitation stats:

Monthly Precip: 3.34" Above Average By 1.07"
Monthly Snowfall: 6.6" Below Average By 0.4"
Record March Snow: 36.6" in 1931

As March roars on out like a lion, April starts off chilly and features plenty of wet weather chances. But as they say, "April Showers Bring May Flowers"! Wonder if that saying applies to snowy wet weather? But that's a topic for another blog. Check for Drew's Accumulating Snow Saturday blog this evening.
