Baby dies at Children's Hospital, child abuse charges pending against mother's boyfriend

UPDATE: TWO RIVERS, Wis. --  The Two Rivers Police Department reports the baby, who suffered injuries from an apparent case of abuse has died.

The infant was taken to Milwaukee Children's hospital last week.

Investigators say additional charges against the mother's boyfriend is possible.

TWO RIVERS, Wis. (WFRV) A baby in Two Rivers is in critical condition while the mother's boyfriend has been arrested for abuse.

Officers were sent to a home on the north side of the city at around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon for a report of a 2-month old baby that was unconscious and not breathing.

The Two Rivers Police Department says when they arrived the baby did not have a pulse and was not breathing.  Paramedics were able to resuscitate the child.

The baby was transported to the hospital and then later airlifted to Milwaukee Children's Hospital and remains in critical condition.

Police say the cause of the baby's condition was due to child abuse caused by the child's mother's boyfriend.

The 22-year-old man was arrested on charges of physical abuse of a child causing great bodily harm, failure to render aid and other charges.
