MOUNT PLEASANT, WI (CBS 58) -- A 29-year-old Mount Pleasant man is facing multiple charges after threatening his wife and a new born child early Saturday morning. Police used a Taser to subdue the man and take him into custody.
Around 3:57 AM a woman placed a frantic 911 call and said her husband was going to “kill her.” By the time the Mount Pleasant Police arrived at the home at Frankie Place and Margery Drive the woman and an older child had escaped, but the husband was still holding her new born child at knife point. The man, identified as Stephen Trinidad, refused Police commands to release the child and come out of the barricaded residence. Instead he held the knife to the child’s throat and threatened to kill the infant.
Officers were able to gain entry into the residence through a second story patio door and a Mount Pleasant Police Sergeant used a Taser to subdue Trinidad and rescue the child unharmed. The child was returned to the mother.
Trinidad was taken to the Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for treatment and then taken to the Racine County Jail. Charges of Disorderly Conduct while Armed/Domestic Abuse, Recklessly Endangering Safety in the 1st Degree, Fales Imprisonment and Failing to comply with an Officer’s attempt to take him into custody are expected to be field with the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
