Man suspected of attempted arson and offensive graffiti arrested by Sheboygan Police

SHEBOYGAN Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Sheboygan Police Department has taken five separate reports of damage and vandalism to a home and vehicle in the 900 block of Kentucky Avenue over the past several weeks.

The police department asked neighbors in the area to pay attention for suspicious persons and activity.

Officers arrested a suspect around 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning after a neighbor called to report a suspicious man sitting inside of his car.

Officers were in the area and able to locate and stop the man as he tried to leave.

The 31-year-old Sheboygan man confessed to the five prior events.

He admitted to trying to burn down the home twice, damaging property, and spray-painting graffiti on the side of the home he was targeting.

He was arrested and taken to jail on 2 counts of attempted arson, 3 counts of damage to property, and a probation violation.

The suspect believed that he knew a person that was living in the home.

The Sheboygan Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance in the matter and for helping to make the city a safer place to live.
