Man sentenced in reckless driving crash that killed mother and her 2 sons near 35th and Vilet
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Trevon Loston, a man charged in the reckless driving crash that killed a mother and her two sons, was sentenced to five-and-a-half years behind bars.
The crash happened Sept. 16, 2025 near 35th and Vliet. Fifty-year-old Pler Moo, 21-year-old Moo Nay Taw, and 15-year-old Karlah Moo were killed while returning home from a soccer game.
Police say they saw a speeding Dodge Journey with no plates and tried to make a stop. When the driver refused, the pursuit went on for about a mile ending with the crash at 35th and Vliet.
Surveillance video from a nearby store showed the vehicle going through a red light and slamming into another vehicle, which the Moo family was inside.
No one connected to the Moo family was at the sentencing for Trevon Loston Thursday. However, Loston's family, including his mother, was in the courtroom.
During the sentencing, the state pointed out Loston's criminal history in Indiana.
“He has literally been told by three different courts in two different states he could not have a gun and he did not care. He continued to have a gun and continued to drive a stolen car," said prosecuting attorney Grant Huebner.
Loston had a message for his family as he expressed how with all the gun violence in Milwaukee, he felt like he needed to have a gun to protect himself.
"I want to send my deepest and sincerest condolences out to the family who lost their lives during this incident. Second to my family, I love you and I’m sorry," Loston said.
Dashauna Egerson was also charged for nine felony counts in the case.
Court documents say Egerson was behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle after she switched seats with Loston before the chase.
Egerson has a hearing scheduled next week as Loston prepares for his time in prison and still will need to go through his cases in Indiana.
