Man found guilty in Third Ward shooting of MPD detective

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 20-year-old Milwaukee man, accused of shooting an off-duty police detective in Milwaukee's Third Ward, was found guilty on Wednesday, April 26. 

Investigators say Keasean Ellis-Brown shot Milwaukee Police Department Detective Andy Wilkiewicz during an attempted carjacking and robbery in the Third Ward in January of 2022. 

Ellis-Brown originally pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty in court Wednesday. 

Ellis-Brown pleaded guilty to the following charges: 

  • Attempted first degree intentional homicide (use of a dangerous weapon)
  • Attempting to operate a motor vehicle without owner’s consent
  • Drive or operate a vehicle without owner’s consent

Ellis-Brown is set to be sentenced on June 30.
