Milwaukee County Sheriff\'s Office MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Prosecutors have charged 38-year-old Sergio Chavez-Morales with physical abuse of a child, after they say he threw a baby across a hallway.
The incident happened back on Dec. 22, near North Teutonia Avenue and West Roosevelt Drive.
According to the complaint Milwaukee police responded to the area for a weapons complaint, as the defendant was reportedly being chased by someone armed with a knife.
After the officers separated the parties, the complaint goes on to say that a witness said they saw Chavez-Morales grab the five-month-old and threw the baby across the hallway, causing the baby to cry out in pain.
The baby was taken to Children's Wisconsin for x-ray studies, and no immediate fractured bones could be observed.
Chavez-Morales is facing two felony counts of child abuse-intentionally causing harm and bail jumping.
Prosecutors say Chavez-Morales was already out on bound for a separate case involving a felony offense of strangulation and suffocation.
