Man Charged With OWI After Overturning His U-Haul Truck on the Interstate

TOWN OF YORKVILLE - A 54-year-old man from Chicago is now being charged with Operating While Under the Influence of an Intoxicant, his 3rd offense. This comes after he overturned his U-Haul truck on I-94 (Westbound), just north of County Highway C in the Town of Yorkville.

Deputies and Union Grove / Yorkville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. The truck was on its side, blocking the left lane. A lot of personal possessions had been thrown from the truck during the accident and covered all three lanes of traffic. I-94 (Westbound) was temporarily shut down at STH 20, due to the accident and resulting debris, but was later reopened. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The operator of the U-Haul truck was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was then released from the hospital and taken to the Racine County Jail.
