MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 29-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged with homicide after a woman was found fatally shot inside a motel room near Timmerman Airport.

The shooting happened Wednesday, Jan. 14. Shortly after 2:30 p.m., police responded to the Port Motel on W. Appleton Avenue and located 29-year-old Alicia Machnik inside one of the motel units with a gunshot wound to her head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the motel, according to the complaint, and it appears to show on Jan. 12, Machnik and a male checking in.

On Jan. 14, the surveillance footage showed one person leave the room, later identified as 29-year-old Lance White, and no other individuals enter or exit until Machnik was found dead a few hours later by a motel employee.

Authorities interviewed Machnik's mother, who reported Machnik and White got married one year prior, and has "spiraled out of control ever since." Machnik's mother reviewed surveillance video from the motel and reportedly identified the individual arriving with Machnik and leaving the motel room as White.

White was arrested the same day as the shooting. During an interview, according to the complaint, White told investigators he and Machnik were in a relationship for about a year and they stayed in motels -- the most recent being the Port Motel.

According to the complaint, White alleged the father of Machnik's child was getting out of prison in 11 months and was going to kill them. Machnik reportedly told White to shoot her at the spot his name is tattooed on her face.

White told investigators, per the complaint, he shot Machnik in the head once and then "fled the room in shock." He allegedly discarded the gun in a nearby sewer.

White has been charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide.

He's due in court for his initial appearance Jan. 20.
