He's charged with hitting four members of a family outside Fiserv last November and then driving away.
The injuries were serious, but everyone survived.
On Tuesday, a Milwaukee police officer said cellphone video posted on Instagram shows Covington driving the car.
"The phones have like essentially digital bread crumbs that, through GPS, puts him at that location at the time of the crash," said MPD Officer William Hanney.
A defense motion to dismiss the charges was denied.
Covington was arraigned and pleaded not guilty.
He's due back in court on Feb. 27.
