Man attempts to rob Mount Pleasant hotel with bag over his head to conceal identity

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Racine man has been arrested after police say he tried to rob a hotel in Mount Pleasant.

Aaron McGraw is facing charges of Attempted Armed Robbery and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were called to America's Best Value Inn, located at 5419 Durand Avenue, on Friday for a report of a robbery possibly involving a gun.

Upon arrival, officers located two men on top of the male suspect, identified as McGraw.

A hotel employee told police that a man came into the hotel wearing a plastic bag over his head in an attempt to conceal himself. The man allegedly jumped the counter, said he had a gun, and demanded to be given all the money in the cash register.

The employee refused to give the suspect any money and tried to call 911. That's when the man, later identified as McGraw, tried to hit her with a container to stop her.

A man came inside and helped detain McGraw until police arrived on scene.

According to the criminal complaint, McGraw told police he did not mention he had a gun and that his kids were hungry.

He blew a .13 and was taken into custody.
