Man arrested in connection to drug overdose death in Racine County, more drugs recovered
RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A search warrant in Racine County, netted drugs, including fentanyl, and led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Milwaukee man.
According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, in May of 2021, a 26-year-old man died of a drug overdose in the town of Norway. Investigators were able to determine the drug that caused the man's death were likely sold by a dealer with the street name of "Tru." This man was later identified as Brandon M. Price, a 37-year-old from Milwaukee.
Agents with the Racine County Metro Drug Unit developed a confidential informant (CI) that made three controlled buys from Price in Racine County. While each of the controlled buys were supposed to be for heroin, the substance delivered by Price to the CI for the first buy tested positive for only fentanyl. Officials say the second buy tested positive for only fentanyl; and for the third buy tested positive for a combination of heroin and fentanyl.
Agents worked with the City of Greenfield Police Department to determine that Price was staying in an apartment near 76 St in Greendale.
On Tuesday, Aug. 8. agents from the Racine County Metro Drug Unit, along with detectives from the Greenfield Police Department, executed a search warrant on Price’s apartment. During the search, law enforcement located the following items: 176 grams of fentanyl, 21 grams of crack cocaine, 56 grams of powder cocaine, 362,421 in US Currency, a loaded .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun, and an AR 58 rifle.
Agents transported Price to the Racine County Jail where he is being held on a $387,500 bail for the three controlled buys including delivery of heroin, two accounts of delivering fentanyl, and three accounts of maintaining a drug trafficking place.
