Man arrested for sexual assault that left 3-year-old with two STDs

BEAUMONT (KBMT) -- UPDATE: A Beaumont Police Department spokesperson has confirmed to 12news that Joshua Cole Williams was arrested around 2 p.m. in Port Arthur, TX.

 

ORIGINAL STORY: Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man wanted for a sexual assault of a child that left a victim with two sexually transmitted diseases.

 

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Rod Carroll told 12News that Joshua Cole Williams, 24, is believed to be responsible for an attack on the 3-year-old child of a family friend.

 

Williams is believed to be hiding with friends in the Beaumont or Mid-County area. Deputy Carroll said investigators do not believe that these friends realize that Mr. Williams is wanted or the circumstances of the crime that he is charged.

 

Deputy Carroll said no one should attempt to detain Williams, noting that Williams has a prior firearm charge and should be considered armed and dangerous.

 

Anyone with information on the location of Mr. Williams should contact Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for the location of this wanted fugitive or any other wanted fugitive.
