Man arrested after shooting at occupied MPD squad car

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police Department officers were on patrol when their marked squad car was struck by gunfire Saturday, Jan. 9.

Police say it happened around 2:35 a.m. near 42nd and Capitol. The officers were inside the squad when it was shot at.

According to a news release, they stopped at a red light when it happened. 

Officers observed a car that was next to them that appeared to have a bullet strike on the rear driver's side door, police say. Officers then stopped the vehicle and noticed an apparent bullet strike appeared to be exiting from inside the car.

The occupants were then removed from the car and officers observed a bullet casing inside the car.

A 26-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested and a gun was recovered, officials say.

No one was injured.
