Man arrested after road rage on Highway 60 near Hartford

HARTFORD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Tuesday, December 19 around 11:30 a.m. Hartford 911 got a call for a possible road rage incident with witnesses following the car in question. Callers said the driver was going 45 to 60 mph and driving erratically. Officers located the car on Highway 60 just west of Independence Avenue and a 31-year-old man was taken into custody.

Police found an empty holster, a handgun and items of drug paraphernalia in the car.

An investigation revealed that the suspect was driving west on Highway 60, weaving in and out of traffic, tailgating other cars, and waving his arms frantically at other drivers. When the driver approached the intersection of Highway 60 and Mill Street he showed a handgun out of his window before hitting a car.

Witnesses say the car hopped the curb and then turned north onto Mill Street where he drove on the sidewalk coming 10 to 15 feet from a pedestrian.
