Man arrested after driving at high rate of speed, crashing near Capitol and Murray

SHOREWOOD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One man was arrested after driving recklessly and crashing near Capitol and Murray.

It happened around 10 p.m. on Thursday.

Two Shorewood Police squads saw a vehicle speeding while they were responding to an unrelated call. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Capitol Drive from North Wilson Drive.

Police saw the vehicle drive recklessly, and travel through a red light at a high rate of speed before losing control and crashing near Capitol and Murray.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.

Police say that alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash.

Police say the vehicle was not being pursued at the time of the crash. 

Criminal charges are pending.
