Man arrested after crash in New Berlin injures passenger and knocks out power

NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 31-year-old New Berlin man was arrested for second offense operating while intoxicated causing bodily harm after a crash near S. Calhoun and West Lincoln.

Police said the man’s vehicle left the road and hit a utility pole on Tuesday, May 6 close to 11 p.m.

The driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. A 33-year-old Hartland man riding in the vehicle was also hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash caused a power outage in the area, and traffic signals at the intersection remain down indefinitely. Traffic backups are expected during peak hours.

New Berlin police said alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
