Man arrested after armed robbery attempt at a family gathering in Wauwatosa

A 21-year-old Milwaukee man has been taken into custody after an armed robbery attempt in the 2300 block of Lefeber Avenue in Wauwatosa. 

According to police, the man approached an adult female who was visiting with family on a backyard patio.

The man displayed a handgun and demanded money. The family said that they didn't have any. There was a struggle for a purse and the man was able to get the wallet out of a purse.

The suspect was located a short time later after an extensive yard search. He was arrested in the 2400 block of N. 67th Street.

The wallet was recovered in a nearby alley.
