Man armed with rifle in Waukesha dies after being shot by deputies

VILLAGE OF WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A man has died after being shot by deputies in the Village of Waukesha Wednesday, July 22.
Waukesha County Sheriff's Department identified the man as 37-year-old Scott Kontowicz.
Officials say Kontowicz had poured gasoline over himself and was armed with a rifle when they arrived at his home.
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department would not say where the shooting happened. A safety alert to people who live nearby said the incident was "south of Lawnsdale."
Kontowicz was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

VILLAGE OF WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 37-year-old man was shot by deputies in the Village of Waukesha Wednesday, July 22.
Deputies responded to a residence around 5:53 p.m., and said a 37-year-old man poured gasoline over himself and was armed with a long rifle outside his home.
According to the Sheriff's Department, three deputies were involved in the shooting and initiated life-saving measures to the man, who was taken into custody and transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
The years of service for the deputies involved range from five years to 20 years.
Officials say there is no threat to the community.
The incident is under investigation by the City of Waukesha Police Department.
