Major Zoo Interchange Ramp Closed Until Spring 2017

As work continues on the Zoo Interchange Construction Project ramp closures will be one thing that drivers will need to get used to.

Drivers coming from the north along I-41/US-45 will need to plan ahead if they want to continue toward Milwaukee.

The I-41/US-45 southbound to I-94 eastbound system ramp at the Zoo Interchange is now closed long term for ramp reconstruction.  This closure will last through the winter months and is expected to reopen by late Spring 2017.

This ramp is a major artery for the morning commute and will no doubt have an impact to drivers this  morning.

Drivers who want to continue to Milwaukee will need to take advantage of alternates.  The first alternate is that commuters can exit I-41/US-45 southbound at Watertown Plank Rd. and take that west to Hwy 100 and rejoin the freeway at the Hwy 100 on ramp to I-94.  Another alternate would be to exit at Bluemound Rd. and take that east to 84th St then south to the new 84th St. on ramp to I-94 eastbound.

As with most closures it will take drivers some time to get used to these alternates.  You will need to plan for extra time and slow drive times along these routes during the early stages of this closure.
