Mail Carriers Stamp Out Hunger

Your mail carrier was working a little harder on Saturday in an effort to help others.

It's a food drive started by mail carries years ago called Stamp Out Hunger.

The Hunger Task Force partners with Milwaukee mail carriers to deliver the food to food banks, soup kitchens and senior meal sites.

\"This is the simplest food drive imaginable. You can literally just go in your kitchen pull a couple of can items out, put them in a plastic bag, put them out by your mail box and zap you're done,\" said the Executive Director of the Hunger Task Force Sherrie Tussler.

From there, mail carriers will pick up the donations and it will be delivered to the Hunger Task Force warehouse.

\"I just think that what I'm doing is going to help somebody I don't know. I think that's the best part of what we do,\" said Milwaukee mail carrier Scott Van Derven.

CBS 58's Lila Carrera reports.
