Madison teen, 16, arrested after stealing car, fleeing from police

DANE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 16-year-old has been arrested after allegedly stealing a car and fleeing from police in Dane County.

Deputies attempted to stop a black Kia on South Towne Drive near Industrial Drive in the City of Monona around 11 p.m. Sunday for erratic driving.

After running the license plate, deputies realized the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

The driver failed to stop, ran over a median, and flattened two tires before continuing into a Walmart parking lot. The two occupants then allegedly fled on foot.

Authorities set up a perimeter and searched the area.

One suspect, a 16-year-old male from Madison, was arrested.

He will be charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner's Consent, Eluding, 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Obstructing, and Driving Without a License.
