Lung Force Walk at Milwaukee County Zoo raises over $100,000 to fight lung disease, lung cancer

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The wet weather did not stop roughly 1,000 people from hitting the pavement at the Milwaukee County Zoo for a good cause.

The color turquoise took over the zoo for the 6th annual 'American Lung Association Lung Force Walk.'

Here in Wisconsin, there are more than 600,000 people who suffer from chronic lung disease including 3,400 new cases of lung cancer diagnosed each year.

"88 cents of every dollar goes back into our programs and services here in Wisconsin and nationwide. We funded over $79 million in research over the last 10 years," said Megan Cordova with the American Lung Association.

Sunday's Lung Walk raised over $100,000 to fight lung diseases and lung cancer.
