MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Local veterans were out on Saturday, Sept. 4 to hold a fundraiser for Afghan refugees.
The group, Concerned Veterans for America Foundation, are raising money and collecting clothes and other items for Afghan refugees.
CBS 58 spoke to one veteran at Saturday's event who emphasized that it is important to help the refugees because many of them risked their lives to help American citizens.
"It's not their fault, just like it's not the fault of the U.S. servicemember," Sam Rogers said. "It's very important to us that those who put on the line to help us, stay safe and help bring more Americans home alive. It's so important to bring them home alive."
The organizers held the fundraiser at the House of Harley on Saturday.
